Frequently Asked Questions
What Times Are Used When A Menu Is Published?
When a menu is published, there are three steps to establish the times that the menu should be available on each day of the week.
- The first step is to check if any Menu Timing overrides have been applied within the Menu Timings section.
- If Menu Timing overrides are found those times are used, otherwise if none are found the next step is to check if the site has any Opening Hours defined within the site setup. If opening hours are defined, then the default menu hours will be used but they will be reduced (if applicable) to ensure that the menu is not available when the site is closed.
- If none of the above are applicable, the menu will use the Default Menu Times applied within the Menu Builder.
Site Opening Hours
If defined against the site, Site Opening Hours can reduce the hours that a menu is available to fall in line with when the site is open. This is so that menus can be shared across many sites without needing to apply individual overrides within the Menu Timings section here opening hours vary.
For example, if a "Breakfast Menu" and "Main Menu" combination are available across many sites, the Default Start Time of the "Breakfast Menu" should reflect the time that the earliest site opens, and the Default End Time of the "Main Menu" should reflect the time that the latest site closes. When those menus are published across all sites:
- For sites that open later than the menu Default Start Time, the "Breakfast Menu" is not available until the site opens.
- For sites that close earlier than the menu Default End Time, the "Main Menu" is not available after the site closes.
Note that is Site Opening Hours are NOT defined against the site:
- Leaving the site in "Open" state on a day will mean that the menu publication refers to the Default Menu Times.
- Changing the site to "Closed" state on a day will mean that the menu publication will make the menu unavailable on that day.
