Frequently Asked Questions
Can I See Where A Deal Is Being Used?
Yes you can if the deal is being used in any menus.
Menus are listed within the Deal Usage section which shows at the bottom of the deal edit page. You can also see whether the deal is associated with that menu as a standard "Deal" or as a "Promo" requiring promo code entry.
How Do I Build A Simple Transaction Discount?
Transaction Discounts are a popular type of deal throughout hospitality and retail. For example, a "10% Off Promotion" discount that reduces the entire basked by 10%.
The steps below summarise what to do when building this type of deal. For full details, see Deals.
Step 1: Create The Deal
Create the Deal as a "Entire Transaction" level deal and enter the core Deal Details.
See: Deals: Create.
Step 2: Specify The Deal Conditions
When building transaction discounts, deal conditions are optional. If there are no basket requirements, the Deal Conditions section can be left blank.
If there are basked requirements, a single Deal Condition can be added to specify those requirements before the discount can be activated. Using the "10% Off Promotion" example above, there may be a condition to say that the customer must spend £50 before they receive the promotion.
Step 3: Specify The Deal Discount
For a Transaction Level Deal you can only assign one Deal Discount.
The discount can either be a Percent discount to reduce all items by a certain percentage, or an Amount discount to reduce the total bill by a specific amount.
How Do I Build A "Combination" Deal?
Combination Deals are a popular type of deal throughout hospitality and retail. For example, a "Lunch Meal Deal" where a main, side and drink combined are sold at a fixed price.
The steps below summarise what to do when building this type of deal. For full details, see Deals.
Step 1: Create The Deal
Create the Deal as a "Specific Items" level deal and enter the core Deal Details.
See: Deals: Create.
Step 2: Specify The Deal Conditions
You need a Deal Condition for each component of the Combination Deal.
Using the "Lunch Meal Deal" example above, there would be three conditions where the basket must contain:
- One product from a family of Main Meals;
- One product from a family of Sides;
- One product from a family of Drinks.
Step 3: Specify The Deal Discount
For a Combination Deal you need just one Deal Discount.
The discount should be a Fixed Price discount, with the Combination Deal price specified.
As this is a Combination Deal, the discount should be applied across all Deal Conditions specified in Step 2.
How Do I Build A "Volume Discount" Deals?
Volume Discount Deals are a popular type of deal throughout hospitality and retail. For example, a "Three Gifts for £10" volume discount where a fixed price is applied when three gifts are purchased.
The steps below summarise what to do when building this type of deal. For full details, see Deals.
Step 1: Create The Deal
Create the Deal as a "Specific Items" level deal and enter the core Deal Details.
See: Deals: Create.
Step 2: Specify The Deal Conditions
For a Volume Discount deal you need just one Deal Condition to specify the volume required.
Using the "Three Gifts For £10" example above, there would be one condition where the basket must contain:
- Three products from a family of Gift items.
Step 3: Specify The Deal Discount
For a Volume Discount Deal you need just one Deal Discount.
The discount may be:
- A Fixed Price discount, if the quantity of items combined are bundled under a new sale price.
- An Amount or Percentage discount, if the individual items are reduced in price once the volume is reached.
As this is a Volume Discount Deal, the discount should be applied across all Deal Conditions specified in Step 2.
How Do I Build A "Buy X Get Y" Discount?
Buy X Get Y Deals are a popular type of deal throughout hospitality and retail. For example, a "Buy One Get One 50% Off" when purchasing two cocktails.
Using the "Buy One Get One 50% Off" example above, there would be two conditions where the basket must contain:
- One product from a family of Cocktails;
- One more product from a family of Cocktails.
We separate these out into two conditions so that the discount can be targeted in Step 3 below.
Step 3: Specify The Deal Discount
For a Buy X Get Y Deal you need just one Deal Discount.
The discount may be:
- A Fixed Price discount, if the "Y" item is a new sale price.
- An Amount or Percentage discount, if the "Y" item is reduced in price.
As this is a Buy X Get Y Deal, the discount should be applied to just the Deal Conditions representing the "Y" selection specified in Step 2. As a result, the "X" product remains at full price and the "Y" product is impacted by the discount.
