About
Audit periods let you report across multiple site periods, so your reporting lines up with your audit stock counts.
Any user flagged as an auditor can convert a standard period into an audit period. An audit period works in the same way as a standard period:
- Counts are entered as normal.
- The period approval process is the same.
- Standard reporting for the period is still available.
The difference is that an audit period also gives you extra reports. These cover everything between the count in the last audit period and the count in this one.
Example
A site runs weekly periods with a weekly stock count, and completes an audit count every six weeks. The sixth period is flagged as an audit period.
How the audit variance is calculated
Audit period reporting ignores any variances recorded in the individual periods within the audit period. Instead, the audit variance is worked out from the audit counts at each end:

Using
Convert a Pending period to an audit period, then count and approve it as normal to get the extra audit reports.
Converted a period by mistake?
While the period is still in Pending state, you can change it back to a standard period. Select REVERT BACK FROM AUDIT PERIOD and confirm.
Steps
1
Open a Pending period
A period can only be converted to an audit period while it's in Pending state. See moving a period to Pending.
2
Convert it to an audit period
Within the period, select CONVERT TO AUDIT PERIOD and confirm.
3
Count and approve as normal
Carry on entering counts and approving the period in the usual way.
The period is an audit period, with an extra Audit Reports section.
Audit reports
Audit periods have an extra Audit Reports section at the bottom of the page. It contains audit versions of these period reports, covering the whole audit period rather than just this one period:
