Mid-Period Counts
More accurate closing stock values for larger operations that count stock over a longer time, during trading hours.

Introduction
Mid-period counts give more accurate end-of-period stock values for larger operations that carry out stock counts over a longer time during trading hours.
When a count is entered before the period ends, stock can still move before the period closes, for example through sales, wastage or transfers. Mid-period counts adjusts the count value in period reports to account for any movements between when the count was entered and when the period ended.
Configuration
Mid-period counts is turned on for each site separately.
1
Open your site settings
Log in to the relevant site and go to Company Settings > Site Setup > Site.
2
Enable mid-period counts
Select the Inventory Management tab and tick Enable Mid Period Counts.
3
Save your changes
Select SAVE SITE.
Using Mid-Period Counts
Entering Counts
Important
Before entering counts into stock count sheets, make sure the period is in the correct state:
- If the period is still ongoing, it should be in Current state.
- If the period has ended and you're entering final counts, it should be in Pending state.
You enter counts in the same way as usual. With mid-period counts turned on, the Counted On column also shows when a count was entered against each row.
What Counted On shows
- If the count was entered before the period end date, you'll see the date and time it was entered.
- If the count was entered after the period end date, you'll see the period end date.
If a count is changed later, the Counted On time updates to match the updated count.
Period Count Exceptions
When you approve the period, or run a Trial Approve, Cinchio Back Office checks whether any product appears on more than one count sheet in the period. If it does, it then checks whether any stock movements, such as sales, wastage or transfers, happened between the times the product was counted on each sheet.
If there were movements, a Period Exception is created for that product. You'll need to enter an updated count to clear the exception before you can approve the period. Select COUNT against the exception to enter the counts on the relevant stock count sheets.
Period Reports
Before you review
We recommend running a Trial Approve and clearing all exceptions in the period before reviewing period reports.
In period reports, the closing count is adjusted to reflect any movements after the count was entered. For example:
- 09:31A count of 1.2 packs is entered.
- 11:15Wastage of 0.5 packs is declared.
- 12:00The period ends. The adjusted count shows as 0.7 packs.
