Introduction
Company periods are part of Period Management, for companies that run the same fixed periods across all sites, for example weekly periods everywhere.
They give you greater control over individual sites by making sure every site's periods share the same start and end times.
Head Office
Creates company periods in advance, setting each period's name and start and end dates.
Sites
Create their own periods as normal.
Result
Each site period inherits the dates and name of the matching company period.
Configuration
Enabling Company Periods
Before you start
Company periods affect every site in your company that creates periods for stock or cash counts. If you'd like to talk this through first, contact Cinchio support:
1
Open your global settings
Go to Company Settings > Company and select the Global Settings tab.
2
Enable company periods
Tick Enable Company Wide Periods and select SAVE COMPANY.
If you see the error Period Type Can't Be Blank, don't worry. Carry on to the next step.
3
Set your period type and duration
Open the new Period Management tab, then:
- Set Period Type to Weekly or Calendar Month.
- Set Period Duration to the length of each period in that unit. For example, for weekly periods choose Weekly and enter "1".
4
Save
Select SAVE COMPANY. Company periods are now enabled, and you're ready to create your first company periods.
Managing Company Periods
Creating Company Periods
Create periods in advance
Create company periods before they start, so you stay in control of period dates and names. If a site creates a period and no matching company period exists, one is created automatically using default settings, and it can't be edited.
1
Start a new company period
Go to Company Settings > Company, select the Period Management tab, then select CREATE COMPANY PERIOD.
2
Check and create
In the New Company Period window, check the details are as expected, then select CREATE PERIOD.
Once created, you can edit the company period to rename it or adjust its end date. Repeat these steps to add more company periods.
Recommendation
Create company periods at least a month ahead, so you can plan period dates and names. A quarterly reminder to set up the next quarter's periods before it starts works well.
Editing Company Periods
You can edit some details of a company period, as long as no site has created a period linked to it yet.
In the Period Management tab, select EDIT against the period. The Company Period window shows:
The name of the company period. Change it to match your company's period names. Each site's period inherits this name.
When the period starts. This is one second after the previous period ends, and can't be edited.
When the period ends, set automatically from your company period settings.
If this is the latest company period in the list, you can change the date. This lets you plan exceptional periods in advance. For example, over the holidays you might replace two 7-day periods with a 5-day and a 9-day period.
Select SAVE to save your changes.
Company Periods at Site
With company periods enabled, when a site creates a new period, the period's duration and name are inherited from the site's next company period.
