Introduction
A menu consists of products organised into categories, with each product offering a range of customisable settings. Some settings are specifically defined within the menu for individual products, while others are inherited from broader product settings outside the menu.
It's important to note that any alterations made to the menu won't be reflected on the sales platform until the menu is republished.
Viewing Existing Menu Products
Within the Items section of the menu designer, all products within the menu are displayed by default. You can filter this section to show only items within a specific category by selecting [ITEMS] against that category in the Categories section.
Each product displays the following:
-
Product Name
- Cinchio: The product name as known within Cinchio Back Office for internal purposes.
- In Menu: The product name as known on the menu for external use. (This is seen by customers.)
-
Description
- Cinchio: The product description as known within Cinchio Back Office for internal purposes.
- In Menu: The description as known on the menu for external use. (This is seen by customers.)
- Product Code: The Cinchio Back Office product code.
Within a category, products can be moved into the order that they should appear on the menu platform using the drag-and-drop icons on the end of each product row.
Adding A New Menu Product
Within the Items section of the menu designer, select [ADD NEW PRODUCT].
In the Add New Product window:
- Product: Select the product to add into the menu.
- Category: Select the Menu Category that the product should be assigned to.
- Modifier Groups: Select any modifier groups that should be linked to this product. (If the selected category has modifier groups assigned at category level, these will populate automatically against this product but you can override these if required. For more details on modifier groups, see Editing Product Modifier Groups later in this article.)
- Name: Enter a name for the product as it should be known on the menu to customers, if different to the name of the product as known internally within Cinchio Back Office. (If the selected product has a "Product Menu Name" set within the Product Setup page, it will automatically show here.)
- Product Sale Description: If the selected product has a "Sale Description" defined within the Product Setup page, it will automatically show here for reference.
- Override Product Sale Description: Enter a sale description for this product. If entered, this will override the default sale description above, if one exists.
Then select [CREATE].
The product will be added at the top of the items list within the selected category, but can be moved to elsewhere in the list using the drag-and-drop icon on the righthand side of the row.
At this point, additional settings can be defined against this product if required, as covered in the next section.
Editing An Existing Menu Product
An existing menu item can be edited if required.
Within the Items section of the menu designer, against existing products you can:
Edit Product Name & Description
To edit a products name or sale description, against the relevant product select the edit icon then select [EDIT].
Within the product row, the "In Menu" columns are now available to edit:

Select [SAVE] to save any changes.

- Category: Select the category that the product should be reassigned to.
Select [SAVE] to save any changes.
The product will be added at the top of the items list within the newly selected category, and can be moved to elsewhere in the list using the drag-and-drop icon on the righthand side of the row.
Edit Product Prices
Prices are defined against price levels within Cinchio Back Office.
- For information on updating prices against price levels, Click Here.
- For information on how price levels are assigned to the menu, Click Here.
Within the menu you can view and update prices against individual products available on the menu too.
To do so, against the relevant product select the currency button on the end of the row. This will display the following for each price level associated with the menu*:
- Price Level: Displays the price level that the price is associated with.
- Price: Displays the current price against the price level.
- Tax Rate: Displays the tax rate associated with this product on the price level.
- Price Excludes Tax: Displays whether the price shown includes tax or not.
If required, you can select either select:
- [EDIT PRICE] to edit the existing price.
- [NEW PRICE] to add a price against the price level if it does not already exist.
Within the Add/Edit Pricing window, the following is available to update:
- Price Level: Displays the price level that the price is associated with.
- Price Type: Select the price type as: Price.
- Price: Enter the price of this product.
- Tax Rate: Select the tax rate for this product.
- Price Excludes Tax: Select this if the price entered excludes tax. (For US-style net pricing.)
Select [SAVE] to update the price.
Edit Product Modifier Groups
Modifier groups can be assigned against products available within the menu.
The modifier groups themselves are configured outside of the menu within the Modifier Groups section. For more information on how to configure modifier groups, Click Here.
As well as being able to assign modifier groups to items within the menu, you also have visibility of modifiers in each of those groups.
To see this, against the relevant product select the edit icon then select [MODIFIERS].
The Edit Modifier Groups window lists all modifier groups assigned to the product within the menu currently. Here, you can:
- Add or remove modifier groups in the Modifier Groups field.
- Arrange modifier groups into the order that they should be presented to customers on the menu, using the drag-and-drop icons on the row.
To see more information on the modifier groups listed, you can:
- Select the name of the modifier group to open the edit modifier group page in a new tab in your browser. For more details on editing modifier groups, Click Here.
- Select the "+" icon on the left to expand the row and view the modifier items assigned to the modifier group.
- View and update prices against the individual modifiers listed, as covered in the "Edit Product Prices" section above.
Edit Product Images
Products images are assigned against products within the products section. Menus then inherit these, to save you from having to reupload images for each new menu.
Images can be assigned against destinations and individual sites/locations if required, providing full flexibility if a product requires different images under different circumstances.
For more information on assigning product images against products, Click Here.
It’s possible for multiple images to apply to the same location. For example, you might upload one image with Entire Company availability, then add another with Selected Sites to override it for specific sites.
To resolve which image is used when a menu is published to a location, the following priority order is applied:
Selected Locations: Check for an image set directly for the location.
Selected Sites: If none, check for an image set for the site the location belongs to.
Entire Company: If none, check for an image available to the whole company.
Default Image: If no other match is found, use the image marked as Default.
Edit Allergen, Nutritional & Dietary Attributes
A products nutritional and allergen information is defined against the product itself. The menu then inherits these for the product when the product is added into the menu.
For more information on updating these attributes against products, Click Here.
A products age-restricted status is defined against the product itself. The menu then inherits this status for the product when the product is added into the menu.
To designate a product as age-restricted, within the Product Details tab of the Product Setup page, assign the Alcohol attribute against the product.
Not all menu destinations utilise this flag for age-restricted products. For more details on individual menu destination capabilities, Click Here.
If the Alcohol attribute is not available for you to select, contact Cinchio support for assistance:
Remove A Product From The Menu
A product can be removed from a menu if no longer required.
Within the Items section of the menu designer:
- Locate the required item and select [DELETE].
- Confirm the deletion.
The item is no longer available against the menu.
* Price levels associated with the menu are based on price levels assigned to menu destinations that are linked to the menu through Location & Destination assignment.
