Sales Reports: Product Group Sales

Report Information

The Product Group Sales report gives you a clear summary of sales organised by product groups using your custom Report Grouping Hierarchy. You can also view daily breakdowns to track performance over time, helping you spot overall trends and day-to-day changes.

Access the Product Groups Sales report via: Reports & Analysis > Sales > Product Group Sales.

The output of the report can very depending on the selected report filter options.

If required, this report can be created as a Saved Report and set up to send out periodically.

Information on report filter options

The table below summarises report filter options available for this report.

Select Sites Select which sites and/or site groups to include in the report.
Date Range Select which date range to include sales for.
Product Groups Select which product groups to include. If left blank, all groups will be included.
View Type

Select whether to view the report as:

  • Consolidated: To combine multiple sites into one consolidated output.
  • By Site: To produce a separate output per site, if multiple sites are selected.
  • By Site & Location: To produce a separate output per site, per location, if multiple sites/locations are selected.  
Analysis Style

Select whether to view the report as:

  • Consolidated: To see a consolidated list of group sales within the report date range.
  • By Date & By Group: To see a list of group sale totals per individual sales date within the report date range
  • By Group & By Date: To see a list of daily sale totals within the report date range, broken down by group.
  • By Team Member: To see a consolidated list of group sale totals per team member within the report date range.
Group By

Select which group tier to report on:

  • Product Group: The report has 2 levels: Product Group > Product.
  • Master Group: The report has 3levels: Master Group > Product Group > Product.
  • Super Group: The report has 4 levels: Super Group > Master Group > Product Group > Product.
Sort Order

Select which order to sort each section of the report as:

  • Group: Groups are listed alphabetically within each section.
  • Quantity: Groups are listed in order of item quantity sold within each section, highest to lowest.
  • Gross: Groups a listed in order of sale gross within each section, highest to lowest.
Show Details Select this is you wish to run the report will all expandable levels shown. If not selected, summary data is shown in level 1 with the ability to drill down into further levels as required.

 

The report output depends on the selected Analysis Style filter option.

Level 1 - Selected Group Sales

When report filter Analysis Style "Consolidated" is selected, the first level of the report is a summary of group sales within the selected date range for the selected group tier based on the Group By filter option.

Tax Inclusive Reporting (E.g. UK)

The table below summarises the data shown in each column of this report view. 

Group Name Displays the name of the group.
Quantity Displays the quantity of products within the group sold.
RRP Displays the sale value products sold within the group before the discount was applied.
Gross Displays the total gross sale value of products sold within the group.
Net Displays the total net sale value of products sold within the group.
Tax Displays the total tax value of products sold within the group.
Discount Displays the total gross discount value. 
Average Net Displays the average net sale price of products sold within the group.
Sales % Displays the proportion of sales within this section that are allocated to the group shown.

 

Tax Exclusive Reporting (E.g. USA)

For companies using the Tax Exclusive Reporting Profile, this view of the report is shown as per the image below.

The table below summarises the data shown in each column of this report view. 

Group Name Displays the name of the group.
Quantity Displays the quantity of products within the group sold.
Gross Displays the total net sale value of products sold within the group before the discount was applied.
Net Sales Displays the total net sale value. (Excludes discount and tax.)
Total Displays the total sale value of products sold within the group.
Net Displays the total net sale value of products sold within the group.
Tax Displays the total tax value of products sold within the group.
Average Net Displays the average net sale price of products sold within the group.
Sales % Displays the proportion of sales within this section that are allocated to the group shown.

 

 

Subsequent Levels - Product Sales

If the Group By filter option "Super Group" or "Master Group" is selected, additional levels are available as you drill down through the various group tiers displaying the same information per level 1 for the various group tiers.

The final level of the report breaks down individual products sold within the selected product group.

Product Name Displays the name of the individual products sold.
Quantity Displays the quantity of each product sold.
RRP Displays the sale value products sold within the group before the discount was applied.
Gross Displays the total gross sale value of products sold within the group.
Net Displays the total net sale value of products sold within the group.
Tax Displays the total tax value of products sold within the group.
Discount Displays the total gross discount value. 
Average Net Displays the average net sale price of products sold within the group.
Sales % Displays the proportion of sales within this section that are allocated to the group shown.
