Report Information
The Daily Summary report gives you a complete snapshot of the day's trading: transaction volumes and revenue, payments, deposits balancing, discounts and team member performance.
Open it from Reports & Analysis > Sales > Daily Summary. What the report shows depends on the filters you choose.

Report filters
Use the toggle to choose:
The sales date to report on, and whether to see:
How the data within each section is shown:
Show sales as Net Sales, Gross Sales or Total Sales. The options depend on your company's reporting profile.
Split the Product Group Sales section by Super Group, Master Group, Product Group or Sales GL Account.
Split the Payments Breakdown section by Media Type, Media or Payments GL Code.
Split the Discount Summary section by Discount Group, Discount Item or Discount GL Code.
The transaction sources to include. Leave blank to include all sources.
Report Output
The report is made up of 11 sections. Sections 2 to 5 build on each other:
2. Revenue Received
Sales and retained charges.
3. Liabilities Received
Tax, tips, gratuities, donations and fees.
4. Total Received
All money received.
5. Payments Breakdown
The payments that cover it.
Reporting profiles
Most sections look the same whichever reporting profile your company uses. Revenue Received and Team Member Sales differ, so they have an accordion for each profile.
Section 1: Transaction Summary
When transactions took place and how many there were.
About this section
The time of the first transaction in the sales date.
The time of the last transaction in the sales date.
The total number of transactions, plus the average spend per transaction, based on the View Sales As filter.
The total number of covers, plus the average spend, based on the View Sales As filter. Hidden if there are no covers.
Section 2: Revenue Received
The revenue received into the business. This section differs by reporting profile.
Tax Inclusive reporting (for example, UK)
Total net sales.
The total of any transaction charges or fees kept by the business as revenue.
Based on media types with Used For Retained Charges enabled, and hidden if there are none.
Net sales plus retained charges.
Tax Exclusive reporting (for example, USA)
Total net sales before discount.
Total net discount.
Total net sales after discount.
The total of any transaction charges or fees kept by the business as revenue.
Based on media types with Used For Retained Charges enabled, and hidden if there are none.
Net sales plus retained charges.
Section 3: Liabilities Received
Liabilities captured in transactions that aren't kept as revenue.
About this section
Total sales tax.
The number and total value of tips declared at the POS or a digital ordering platform.
Based on media types with Used For Liabilities (Tips) enabled, and hidden if there are none.
The number and total value of gratuities declared at the POS or a digital ordering platform.
Based on media types with Used For Liabilities (Gratuities) enabled, and hidden if there are none.
The number and total value of charity donations or round-ups declared at the POS or a digital ordering platform.
Based on media types with Used For Liabilities (Charity Donations) enabled, and hidden if there are none.
The number and total value of external or government fees and charges captured at the POS or a digital ordering platform.
Based on media types with Used For Liabilities (External Fees) enabled, and hidden if there are none.
All liabilities captured in transactions.
Section 4: Total Received
All the money received into the business:
Section 5: Payments Breakdown
The payments received to cover the Total Received in section 4.
About this section
The rows depend on the View Payments By filter:
How many times the payment was used. This can be more than once in a transaction.
The total value received.
Total Payments appears underneath, and should match Total Received in section 4.
Unassigned Payments
Payments using a new payment media that hasn't been assigned to a media type yet are grouped on an Unassigned Payments line, with a warning to set the media up.
Section 6: Deposits Balancing
Cash up and deposit declarations compared with payments received.
Revenue Management only
This section only appears if your company uses Revenue Management.
About this section
Each row is a payment media type with payments received or counted on the day, showing:
The amount expected, based on transactions.
The amount counted in all cash ups for the sales date.
The amount declared in any deposits, including auto-deposits, for the sales date.
Over/Short appears underneath, showing the difference between Expected and Counted, and between Counted and Deposited.
Section 7: Product Group Sales
Total sales, split by product group.
About this section
The rows depend on the View Product Group Sales By filter:
The number of units sold in the group.
The total sales for those products, based on the View Sales As filter.
Total Sales appears underneath.
Section 8: Discount Summary
Discounts given to customers.
About this section
The rows depend on the View Discounts By filter:
The number of units the discount applied to.
The total discount given, based on the View Sales As filter.
Total Discount appears underneath.
Section 9: Transaction Sources
Sales, split by transaction source.
About this section
The number of transactions from the source.
The total sales in those transactions, based on the View Sales As filter.
Total Sales appears underneath.
Section 10: Sales Audit
POS actions you may want to keep an eye on.
About this section
The number and total value of refunds.
The number and total value of voided lines in sales.
The number and total value of sales cancelled at the POS.
The number of no sales declared at the POS.
The total value of all refunds and voids, showing your total potential losses.
Section 11: Team Member Sales
Headline figures for each team member, based on the transactions they closed. This section differs by reporting profile.
Tax Inclusive reporting (for example, UK)
The number of transactions closed.
The total discount given, based on the View Sales As filter.
The total sales, based on the View Sales As filter.
The total gratuity recorded on the POS or a digital ordering platform.
Based on media types with Used For Liabilities (Gratuities) enabled.
The total tips declared at the POS or a digital ordering platform.
Based on media types with Used For Liabilities (Tips) enabled.
Tax Exclusive reporting (for example, USA)
The number of transactions closed.
Total net sales before discount.
Total net discount given.
Total net sales after discount.

Based on media types with Used For Liabilities (Tips) enabled.
