In mvManager, tax behaviour is controlled by tax configuration, product families, price levels, and locations. To change the tax rate for a product, review the tax setup and the family assignment that controls which products the tax applies to.
Review the tax rate
- Go to Configuration > Taxes.
- Open the tax rate that needs to change.
- Check whether the tax is Exclusive or Inclusive.
- Update the Rate percentage if the rate itself has changed.
- Review Sort Order if multiple taxes apply to the same products and locations.
- Review Calculate On if tax should be calculated on gross or net when multiple taxes apply.
Control which products are taxed
- Check whether the tax uses a Family.
- If the tax should apply only to selected products, create or update a family containing those products.
- If the product should be exempt, remove it from the taxed family or use a family that excludes it.
- If the product is included because its category or group is selected in the family, edit the family rule rather than the individual product.
Assign locations and test
- Open the Locations tab on the tax rate.
- Select the locations where this tax should apply.
- Save the tax.
- Run a test sale for the product in an affected location and price level.
- Check receipts and reports to confirm the correct tax name and value are shown.
Checks before saving
- Changing a tax rate can affect many products and locations. Review family and location assignments before saving.
