About
Wastage lets you record stock that's been lost, damaged or can't be used, keeping stock levels and reports accurate. Each record has a wastage type explaining why stock was written off.
Found stock?
You can also use wastage to increase stock, for example when missing items turn up.
What you can record wastage against
With Inventory Management
Supplied, Recipe, Preparation and Made products. Wastage updates your stock on hand.
Without Inventory Management
Products with stock type Other, for reporting only.
Recording wastage during service
Staff can also record wastage in the Operations Hub as it happens. It then waits in Cinchio Back Office in Preparation for a manager to approve.
Wastage states
Preparation
Created and can still be edited.
Approved
Taken off (or added to) stock in Cinchio Back Office.
Completed
The stock period it falls in is complete. Only if you use periods.

Go to the Create tab.
Create
Record wasted stock, or stock you've found, and approve it now or later.
Use a template
A wastage template fills in the products you waste regularly.
Choose the right type
The wastage type decides whether stock is taken off or added on.

Steps
1
Start new wastage
Go to Inventory Management > Wastage > Wastage and select Create Wastage.

Choose the type
In the Create Wastage window, choose the following, then select Continue.
Optionally, a wastage template to fill in the products for you.
The wastage type for this wastage or adjustment.

Fill in the details
Fill in:
When the wastage or adjustment happened. If wastage day parts are turned on, choose the Date and Day Part instead.
Where the wastage happened.

Add the products
If you chose a template, its products are already listed. To add another, select Add Product and choose it from the list.
For each product, enter the quantity wasted in one or more of the Quantity fields, using the size labels shown.

Save or approve
Choose how to finish:
Create
Saves the wastage in Preparation, to be approved later.
Approve
Approves the wastage straight away and updates stock on hand.
The wastage is saved. If you approved it, stock on hand is updated straight away.
Approve
Wastage in Preparation must be approved before it changes stock on hand. Depending on its wastage type, approving it either takes the stock off, as normal wastage, or adds it on, as a stock adjustment.
Includes Operations Hub wastage
Wastage recorded front of house in the Operations Hub arrives in Preparation and waits here for approval too.
How do you want to approve it?
One record at a time

Go to Inventory Management > Wastage > Wastage and find the wastage in the list.

Select Approve. Repeat for any other wastage.
The wastage moves to Approved, and stock on hand is updated.
A whole day part at once
This is only available if you use wastage day parts.

Go to Inventory Management > Wastage > Wastage and search with the Day Part you want. All wastage for that day part in the date range is listed.

Above the table, select Approve All. Repeat for any other day parts.
All the wastage listed moves to Approved, and stock on hand is updated.
Search
Find wastage by date, state, type, product, source or day part.
Shown straight away
When you open Inventory Management > Wastage > Wastage, wastage in Preparation with a wastage date in the last 30 days is already listed.
Searching
Use any of these filters in the Search panel at the top, then select SEARCH:
Wastage with a wastage date in this range.
Wastage currently in these states.
Wastage with these wastage types.
All or part of a product description.
Wastage entered from this source.
Wastage for this day part. Only if wastage day parts are turned on.
What's shown
The product wasted or adjusted.
The wastage type.
When the wastage happened.
The day part, if there is one.
The quantity wasted, in the Size shown.
The cost of the wastage. Inventory Management users only.
Where the wastage was entered.
The wastage's current state.
Roll back
Undo an approval so the wastage can be corrected. It goes back from Approved to Preparation.
You can only roll back wastage if
You have the rights
Your user role must allow it. Find out how user role rights work.
It's Approved
Completed wastage can't be rolled back.
Its period is open
The wastage can't be in a closed stock period.
Steps

Go to Inventory Management > Wastage > Wastage, find the wastage and select Edit.

Select Unapprove and confirm.
The wastage is back in Preparation and can be edited.
Delete
Remove wastage you no longer need.
You can only delete wastage if
You have delete rights
Your user role must allow it. Find out how user role rights work.
It's in Preparation
If it's been approved, roll it back first.
This can't be undone
Deleting wastage is permanent. It can't be recovered.
Steps

Go to Inventory Management > Wastage > Wastage, find the wastage and select Edit.

Select Delete and confirm.
The wastage is deleted.
FAQs
Frequently asked questions
Can I see stock on hand in wastage?
Yes. If Stock On Hand Visibility is turned on for your company, each product in a wastage record shows its current stock on hand at the site.
Can wastage be recorded at the POS?
On the POS itself
Some POS systems linked to Cinchio Back Office let you record wastage there, and it comes through as wastage in Cinchio.
In the Operations Hub
If your POS can't, record wastage in the Operations Hub, from the POS browser or any front-of-house device with internet access.
Troubleshooting
The product I need to waste isn't listed
Which products you can waste depends on whether your company uses Inventory Management:
With Inventory Management
Any inventory product. Stock movements take it off stock as a loss in the stock period.
Without Inventory Management
Products with stock type Other, for reporting only.
If you still can't find the product, contact your company's Inventory Management administrator.
