Sales Reports: Item Sales

Report Information

The Item Sales report gives you a detailed breakdown of individual products sold, helping you understand how each item is performing. Spot trends, identify best-sellers, and make informed decisions about your menu based on clear, data-driven insights.

Access the Item Sales report via: Reports & Analysis > Sales > Item Sales.

The output of the report can very depending on the selected report filter options.

If required, this report can be created as a Saved Report and set up to send out periodically. 

Information on report filter options

The table below summarises report filter options available for this report.

Select Sites Select which sites and/or site groups to include in the report.
Date Range Select which date range to include sales for.
View Type

Select whether to view the report as:

  • Consolidated: To combine multiple sites into one consolidated output.
  • Split By Site: To produce a separate output per site, if multiple sites are selected.
  • Split By Till: To product a separate output per till.
Product Groups Select which product groups to include. If left blank, all groups will be included.
Group By Select whether to group products together in the report based on Group, Master Group, Super Group or have No Grouping.
Sort Order Select whether to display products within each group (as per the Group By option) in Product order alphabetically, or by Sale Quantity or by Gross with the highest shown first.
Team Members Select which team member(s) to report on. If left blank, sales from all team members will be included.
Average Sale Type Select whether to see average sale value based on Net or Gross. 
Cost For Inventory Management users, select whether the cost shown is based on the Average Cost, Last Cost, Min Cost or Max Cost in the selected date range.
Tills Select which till(s) to report on. If left blank, sales from all tills will be included.

 

The report output depends on whether your company uses the Inventory Management module:

The output of the item sales report is split into sections based on the View Type and Group By filters selected.

Tax Inclusive Reporting (E.g. UK)

For companies using the Tax Inclusive Reporting Profile, this view of the report is shown as per the image below.

The table below summarises the data shown in each column of this report view. 

PLU Displays the PLU of the product sold.
Product Displays the name product sold.
Average Sale Price Displays the average sale price based on the selected Average Sale Type filter option.
Quantity Displays the total quantity of the product sold. 
Gross Displays the total gross sale value paid by customers
Net Displays the total net sale value. 
Tax Displays the total tax value.
Discount Displays the total discount value. 
Site Percent Displays the proportion of sales, per item, for the site shown.
Total Percent Displays the proportion of sales, per item, across the entire report.

You can also see a list of transactions where a product has been sold by selecting the value in the Quantity column.

 

Tax Exclusive Reporting (E.g. USA)

For companies using the Tax Exclusive Reporting Profile, this view of the report is shown as per the image below.

The table below summarises the data shown in each column of this report view. 

PLU Displays the PLU of the product sold.
Product Displays the name product sold.
Average Sale Price Displays the average sale price based on the selected Average Sale Type filter option.
Quantity Displays the total quantity of the product sold. 
Gross Displays the total net sale value before discount is applied. 
Total Displays the total sale value paid by customers for the product.
Net Displays the total net sale value after discount is applied. 
Tax Displays the total tax value.
Discount Displays the total discount value. 
Site Percent Displays the proportion of sales, per item, for the site shown.
Total Percent Displays the proportion of sales, per item, across the entire report.

You can also see a list of transactions where a product has been sold by selecting the value in the Quantity column.

 

 

Report Output [Inventory]

The output of the item sales report is split into sections based on the View Type and Group By filters selected, with theoretical cost information available for companies using Inventory Management.

Product Displays the name product sold.
Average Sale Price Displays the average sale price based on the selected Average Sale Type filter option.
Item Cost Displays the items theoretical net cost, based on the Cost filter option selected. 
Quantity Displays the total quantity of the product sold. 
Gross Displays the total gross sale value paid by customers
Net Displays the total net sale value. 
Tax Displays the total tax value.
Discount Displays the total discount value. 
Gross Profit Displays the gross profile value, based on gross sales. 
Gross Margin Displays the gross profile margin based on gross sales and gross profit. 
Net Profit Displays the net profile value, based on net sales. 
Net Margin Displays the net profile margin based on net sales and net profit. 
Site Percent Displays the proportion of sales, per item, for the site shown.
Total Percent Displays the proportion of sales, per item, across the entire report.
